Two months after the Friends of Pukekura Park formally objected to the proposal that a new road slice through established native vegetation, agreement is reached to reinforce and improve the existing road.
Led by the engineers John Matthews, Colin Bell and John Kuindesma, the plans provide for a wider road which can accommodate larger vehicles, and avoids destruction of longstanding vegtation. The ancient puriri and the mahogony archway are saved!
