The the existing Racecourse to Bowl of Brooklands road is to be strengthened and widened by building a new retaining wall.
The design was completed with input from George Fuller and independent arborist Bruce Macdonald from Asplundh, to ensure the impact on all vegetation - including to the 400-year-old puriri tree - is minimised.
The contract price of nearly $183,000 is well within the maximum $250,000 set by the Council, says Manager Parks Mark Bruhn
