SCANZ is New Zealand's foremost residency for national and international digital artists. It is a biennial event organised by Intercreate Research Centre and based at the Western Institute of Technology at Taranaki (WITT). SCANZ consistes of a residency , exhibition and symposium. Over the 28th January to 8th February 2009 four artists worked with 5 senior students from New Plymouth High schools as part of the collaboration between 60 Springs and SCANZ.
One of the projects explored how the use of GPS and other technologies could be creatively used in Pukekura Park. The students also explored the creative use of customised community software and innovative use of locative, animation, film and gaming technologies. The students worked with Amercian digital artist Brett Stalbaum from the University of California San Deigo, Visual Arts. The weblink displays their work.
