The only known reptiles in Pukekura Park are lizards.  Lizards fall into two categories: skinks or geckos. Skinks are more likely to be seen during the day usually on the ground and have a smooth tight fitting  skin. Geckos are more likely to be seen just above the ground on vegetation at night and have a baggier skin with a proportionately larger head and eyes.  

Both skinks and geckos are highly secretive and rarely seen.  

Here we discuss the kinds you may be fortunate enough to spot, and discuss the monitoring work done by 60 Springs.
